Computer scientist and engineer Mark Dean helped develop a number of landmark technologies for IBM, including the color PC monitor and the first gigahertz chip. The Gigahertz chip allowed computers to perform one billion calculations per second. He holds three of the IBM’s original nine patents for the personal com.​
