The Floating Freedom School​

Missouri

In 1847, Missouri banned education for black people. John Berry Meachum went ahead and equipped a steamboat with a library, desks, and chairs and opened a 'Floating Freedom School with a library, desks, and chairs and opened a 'Floating Freedom School.'
