Newark, New Jersey

Not much is known about his personal life, but John Stanard patented a space-saving design for the oil stove in 1889 which is the fundamental design of portable catering stoves used for generations since. Stanard also patented improvements to the refrigerator which included an ice chamber and the introduction of air ducts to allow cold air to circulate between the main unit and chamber.
